Our story is full of twists, friendship, and a little serendipity. I first met our mutual friend on a Backstreet Boys fan website (yes, those were a thing 😆), and during Spring Break, I stayed at her house. That trip had nothing to do with him—but after I got home, she decided we’d make a cute couple and connected us via AOL IM. Fun fact: back then, he loved rap, I loved pop and R&B, and somehow we clicked anyway. 🎶

Before we ever met in person, we spent a year building our long-distance friendship and love—hours of AOL IM chats and 12-hour phone calls with calling cards. By the time we finally met, we already had a strong foundation, like a slow-burn romance novel before the first chapter even began. 💖

My first visit to his city was to stay at our mutual friend’s house—the same friend who had connected us via AOL IM. That weekend was chaotic, hilarious, and full of moments that cemented our connection. After that, we started seeing each other in person, and eventually, I moved in with him and his family after high school. Three years later, we moved back to my hometown, and we’ve been here ever since. 🏡
